Two Milestones,
One Continued Commitment to Customers

July and August marked two important milestones for Star Plastics—and both represent what matters most to our customers: a strong, dependable partner focused on delivering the right material solutions.

On July 6, Star celebrated the one-year anniversary of its partnership with Trivalence. Bringing the two organizations together has expanded Star’s capabilities, product offerings and technical resources, giving customers access to a broader range of engineering thermoplastic solutions and greater support for their application needs.

Then, on August 20, Star celebrated its 38th anniversary in business. For nearly four decades, Star has built its business around quality, responsiveness and long-term customer relationships. As Star continues to grow and evolve, these milestones reinforce a simple commitment: to provide customers with the materials, expertise and service they need today—and the capabilities to support what comes next.

Doug Ritchie Retires After Nearly Four Decades of Leadership

Star Plastics founder Doug Ritchie retired recently after almost four decades in the plastics industry. Under Doug’s leadership, SDR Plastics, then Star, built a strong reputation for quality, innovation and dependable customer service—values that remain central to the company today. His vision helped establish the foundation for the customer-focused organization Star has become, while his continued involvement in recent years helped support the company’s growth and evolution. As Star enters its next chapter, customers can expect the same commitment to partnership, responsiveness and high-performance material solutions that have defined the company for decades.

At a tribute to Doug held on August 31, he was presented the Distinguished West Virginian award from West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey. This is the highest honor bestowed by the governor and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the state. Below, Doug (left) shares the award with his children, from left to right Molly, Zak and Ross.

Although Doug is retiring from Star, he will continue to serve on the Star board of directors.
